WoW: Forever
Mining
Ore, stone and smelting. The vein table is unchanged from Classic — your old route still works. What changed is what the ore is worth, and a camp object that hands your group 90 attack power.
Is Mining worth taking?
Yes, as a money profession — and more so than in vanilla, because Waylaid Crates give low-level ore a guaranteed buyer it never had.
Two honest caveats. Mining crafts nothing itself; its entire value is feedstock and gold. And it earns no Legacy Points — only the six crafting professions do. If you are chasing the 16-point cap, this is the wrong pick.
The real argument beyond gold is the camp object. Lodestone at skill 20 gives 90 melee attack power to everyone sitting nearby — the same effect as Blessing of Might. A melee group without a Paladin wants a miner at the fire.
What it pairs with
Mining with Blacksmithing, or Mining with Engineering. Both still hold; both of those professions eat ore and have no other feed. Nothing published suggests Forever changed that.
The veins
Byte-for-byte identical to Classic. No vein is flagged as new.
| Skill | Vein |
|---|---|
| 1 | Copper |
| 65 | Tin |
| 75 | Silver |
| 125 | Iron |
| 155 | Gold |
| 175 | Mithril |
| 230 | Dark Iron, Truesilver |
| 245 | Small Thorium |
| 275 | Rich Thorium |
Levelling it
- 1 → 65 — Copper. Durotar, Westfall, Duskwood, Silverpine
- 65 → 125 — Tin and Silver. Arathi, Wetlands, Duskwood, Silverpine
- 125 → 175 — Iron and Gold. Arathi, Alterac, Stranglethorn, Duskwood
- 175 → 245 — Mithril and Truesilver. Badlands, Hinterlands, Alterac, Searing Gorge
- 245 → 300 — Small and Rich Thorium. Winterspring, Azshara, Swamp of Sorrows, Blasted Lands
Smelting what you mine gives skill points too, until the recipe turns grey — do not vendor raw ore while you are levelling.
The bottleneck is 175 to 245, the familiar Mithril desert. The cost is travel time, not gold.
What Forever changed
- Two new smelting recipes: Azerothium Bar at skill 275 (2 Pitchblende + 1 Coal) and Heavy Thorium Bar at 300 (1 Heavy Thorium Ore).
- Two new ores with no published source.
PitchblendeandHeavy Thorium Oreare in the client's item table but appear in no vein's drop list. Where you get them is the biggest open question in Mining. - Three camp objects, all new:
| Skill | Object | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 20 | Lodestone | 90 melee attack power nearby — exclusive with Blessing of Might |
| 140 | Rock Garden | Blueprint. Spawns a common mining node over time, and keeps the Lodestone buff |
| 300 | Molten Foundry | Blueprint. Gates the most advanced Blacksmithing recipes |
- Ore now buys recipes. Waylaid Crates take raw ore, converting it into Merchant's Favor. Low-level ore has a price floor it never had.
Bountiful Harvest, a Legacy perk, gives up to +100% more Scarce materials from Mining, Herbalism and Skinning across five ranks.- There is no Mining specialisation. Claims that you can specialise into extra ore or rare materials are not in the client data — do not go looking.
What is not known
Where Pitchblende and Heavy Thorium Ore come from. What counts as a "Scarce material". Node locations, respawn rules and gathering thresholds in Forever's own zones. And whether vanilla's passive Toughness bonus survives — it is not mentioned either way.
